Jorge Martin will be keen to become the fourth Spanish rider to win back-to-back titles in the history of the Japanese MotoGP.

The Ducati Prima Pramac Racing rider had a good outing at the Indonesian MotoGP on 29 September, the most recent race on the 2024 MotoGP calendar.
Martin won the race and finished 10th in the sprint event which saw him accumulate 25 points from the race staged at the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit.
MotoGP title ambitions
The former Red Bull KTM Ajo rider is still placed at the top of the MotoGP Riders' standings, having accumulated 366 points from 15 races.
Marinator is 21 points ahead of leader Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati Lenovo Team with five races left in the current season.
Why Martin could win the 2024 Japanese MotoGP
The 26-year-old is a clear favourite to win the Japanese MotoGP as he returns to the Mobility Resort Motegi where he tasted success last year.
Winning the recent Indonesian MotoGP has further boosted Martin's confidence coming into this weekend's event.
What did he say?
“I was really confident with a 1.4s gap and then he started catching,” Martin said after the 2024 Indonesian MotoGP.
“I was quite calm and I tried to keep the same pace, but he started catching me to [close to] 0.6s. At some point I found some more speed in the first part of the track so I started to build a bit of a gap. Sometimes I risked to increase the gap but I was in control.
“Let’s keep the momentum, every race weekend is different and this weekend I was maybe too confident. I felt really strong and everything came so good that I was too confident, then I made a mistake, so I need to be more alert.”
